You sat on the rack patiently
Awaiting your fondest customer
To pick you up and ponder your worth.
I inched closer.
Tricked by polish,
Past fancy displays of sparking sandals
You suddenly transcended a want.
A want that became a need that I had to have in that moment
Squeeze inside of you.
Force you to fit.
So you could compliment my red dress
And together we could parade around town
For hours and hours until my pinched flesh blistered
The pain became unbearable
Dragged soles scuffed
What choice did I have, but to remove you?
To slip out of the shine
And walk home barefoot.
