For My Mother

I search for you often.
Digging deep, never finding.
Seeking what I have lost,
Mother, where have you gone?

Our chord snipped
Swarmed with panic
The fault line breaks.

The walls cave,
My mind drowns.
Resting in the rubble,
Our memories.

Stained and tarnished.
Rusted with years passed.
Never forgotten
I watch as you lay.

The coffin shuts,
Sleep for now.
Let me cradle you tightly
And carry you to the furnace.

Loving you with my heart,
Holding you in my hands
Knowing we will reunite one
